The Nature of Animal Healing : The Definitive Holistic Medicine Guide to Caring for Your Dog and Cat by Martin Goldstein D.V.M.

www.drmarty.com/drmartybook.htm
This is a book about animal care, but the guidelines of holistic and integrative veterinary medicine are, of course, based on those originally devised to help human beings. If we're going to give animals purified water because we realize what a silent killer ordinary tap water can be, why not drink purified water ourselves? If good foods and dietary supplements boost our pets' health, why not start applying the same nutritional lessons to improve our own? If acupuncture and homeopathic medicines work on animals, why not incorporate them into our own lives? Perhaps you saved your pet from being put to sleep at the shelter, and took them into your life, caring for them, and showering them with love? Now you can help them further by applying this book's principles of holistic health and diet to their life. And you will also gain some valuable advice on improving your own health too.

Clinical Herb Manuals by the late Michael Moore

www.swsbm.com/homepage/
A Few Words from herbalist Greg Tilford About Michael Moore:
Michael Moore was certainly one of the greatest herbal teachers to have lived during my lifetime.  Founder of the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine and author of several books including Medicinal Plants of the Pacific West and Medicinal Plants of the Mountain West,  Michael was able to educate and inspire his students unlike anyone else I have met.  From  his intimate relationships with plants and his seemingly limitless knowledge of the workings of herbal medicines he will always be remembered as one of deepest thinkers in the history of Western herbal medicine.  Although Michael died in February of 2009 his wonderful school is still in existence, and is still thought by many to be the the best choice for learning the practical and philosophical foundations of clinical herbal medicine.  Before his passing Michael graciously published much of his most important work on the web.  Here you will find hundreds of pages of herbal materia medica, photos, formularies, and other information that is infinitely useful to herbal experts and beginners alike.  Although Michael was not a veterinary herbalist, the principles, philosophies and immense body of work has gifted us with what I consider to be at the heart and soul of herbal healing--- for everyone; human and animal alike.
I credit Michael Moore as one of my greatest teachers.  I will always miss him!

Medicinal Actions and Systemic Affinities of Herbs

theanimalherbalist.com/?page_id=317
In Western herbalism, the effects that plant materials have in or on the body are called "medicinal actions" or "active properties". By becoming familiar with the medicinal actions of the herbs you have access to, you will have a good idea which herb(s) you should turn to when a need arises. In addition to the manner by which herbs work in the body, it is also important to begin learning each herb's specialty, or systemic affinity; its special kinship with certain portions of the anatomy.
